First steps

Today I was thinking about the new GDPR data protection regulations. I realised that I use Google Analytics a lot, and make use of hardly any of the features of it. And I have concerns about what the GDPR means for use of Google Analytics.

So I had the idea of simpler, open-source, self-hosted, privacy-aware, cookie-free analytics.

Yes, such a system would have many limitations, but I think it would give me what I want for the simple websites and web apps that I build.

So maybe it’s my next side project. We’ll see.

If I do develop it, I’ll try to do it relatively openly, which is why I’m getting this blog going.
